Liner Notes

I Wanna Go Feeshin'

I remember the first time Daddy took me fishin'

We went offshore about a mile from our home

We set our lines out somewhere in the Gulf Stream

And caught fish all day till we had to dodge a storm

Daddy made his living out on the ocean

But that night he held me in his lap and said, son

I want you to get an education

I don't want you to be a fisherman

And I looked at him and I said, Daddy…

I wanna go back to the boat, I wanna go fishin'

I wanna go back to the place that feels like home

I tell you what I wish, I wanna catch some fish

I wanna go back to the boat, I wanna go home

I wanna go back, back to the boat, I wanna go home

I wanna go back, back to the boat, I wanna go home

Sure enough, Daddy had his way and sent me packin'

Off to the mainland, headed off to school

The war started in my first semester

They handed me a gun, and taught me how to shoot

I did my time, I don't wanna talk about it

The years slipped by and my life did too

Daddy worked his hands to the nubbin'

I guess he thought his wish came true

But one night I called him, and I said, Daddy…

I wanna go back to the boat, I wanna go fishin'

I wanna go back, to the place that feels like home

I wanna be a kid again, I wanna go fishin'

I wanna go back to the boat, I wanna go home

I wanna go back to the boat, I wanna go fishin'

I wanna go back, to the place that feels like home

I wanna sit in daddy's lap, I wanna hear those waves slap

I wanna go back to the boat, I wanna go home

I wanna go back to the boat, I wanna go home

I wanna go back to the boat, I wanna go home

Cover picture for the single is of me and my son, Zach, taken at Salter Path NC around 2000.

Mark Pittman on lead guitar, Charles Smith on bass, Ryan Baysden on lead vocal with his mother Tammy on backup vocals, me on rhythm guitar somewhere in the background...

I love Mark Pittman's hot licks all the way through this song, especially at the end. What a talent. And Ryan was in the middle of "American Idol" when he and his mother recorded the vocals on this.
