Skitso Yoyo

You said you wanted me for your very own

Then you call it quits on the telephone

I go out and have a really good time

Next day you call me up and you're just a cryin'

Drove by to see you that very same day

Your roommate said you had gone out to play

Left you a note right by your telephone

Said go away baby and just leave me alone

What am I to do I feel just like a yoyo

I wanted you and then you said oh no

The tables turned now you want me again

I don't know what to do, my head is in a spin

I went out and partied all night

The pain inside my heart I had to fight

I drank so much that it went to my head

So I drove home and went to bed

My head was poundin’ I didn't know what to do

The phone rang early and it was you

You're asking where I've been and who I've been with

I'm telling you you're just full of it

What am I to do I feel just like a yoyo

I wanted you and then you said oh no

The table's turned now you want me again

I don't know what to do, my head is in a spin

You said oh baby please don't leave me this way

Could I please just see you today?

I'll tell you what, I'll play your game

Cause I guess I'm a little insane

What am I to do I feel just like a yoyo

I wanted you and then you said oh no

The table's turned now you want me again

I don't know what to do, my head is in a spin

© 1982 A Rooting Star Production/ Music by Fielding Darden/ Lyrics by Teresa Raper/ Raleigh, NC

This was recorded in the kitchen before the Choke Monkey Lounge was built. I am struggling to remember who played on this song. Byron McKay played a slide guitar. Dave Collins played the majority of the lead. Milton Gore played bass. I played rhythm guitar and drums. Teresa Raper wrote the words and I edited those, added the melody, and made it into a song. Teresa's voice was lost over time in the mix, so I had the daughter of a friend of mine re-sing the lead over Teresa's voice. Her name was ??? but her mother was Syvella. Then I added some trippy stuff at the end and remixed the whole thing. Killer old tune with a lot of personality. Teresa also wrote "Little Laurel". I wrote "I Will Never Forget Tonight" for Syvella. I don't know where any of these wonderful ladies are now, but may God bless you.
