Liner Notes

Zach Darden (my son) started this song out with a lick that I picked up on. It was sort of an up and also down riff of notes in the chorus. Then I built the rest of the song around that. Before I had any lyrics, I asked him what to call the song and he said, "Aura".

Great dark tones in the song using a baritone guitar, and the lyrics almost spell out reality but not quite... and I am glad about that...

Chris Kisgen is playing most of the great lead guitar parts, then I play the one at the very end. Zach played his part (somewhere in the middle of the song) that started the whole song...

This is probably one of my top five songs I ever wrote.

Aura

You come round here in the dead of the night

Your Aura shines in the cold moonlight

I'm so addicted to the pain you bring

But I won't fall, it's the same old thing

You left me with a stake in my heart

You put me in jail for a fire I didn't start

Now you come with a big white flag

Tellin' me that you're so sad

I don't think so, I don't care

I don't think so, your Aura is only air

I feel like a victim in a horror show

I see your dagger in the moonlight glow

I hear your voice callin' out to me

My skin starts crawlin' and my knees get weak

I don't think so, I don't care

I don't think so, your Aura can go to Hell

There once was a time when I knew you well

When we were close and I held your heart

Now I'm lost in a who-done-it

And I don't know who you really aura...

You come round here in the dead of the night

Your Aura shines in the cold moonlight

I'm so addicted to the pain you bring

But not this time, there will be no sting

I don't think so, I don't care

I don't think so, your Aura is only air

I don't think so, I don't care

I don't think so, your Aura can go to Hell
